I am from Kolkata/Calcutta, a city in eastern India famous for its fish-eating, gossip-loving and sweet-toothed people. I did my B.Tech in Biotechnology at the Heritage Institute of Technology in India and finished my PhD from Dr. Janice Pata's lab at SUNY Albany in 2014. My dissertation involved studying the mechanisms of Y- and C-family DNA polymerases. As a joint post-doc between the Coen and Hogle labs, I am trying to visualize the interaction between the HSV Pol (UL30) and its processivity factor (UL42). In addition to my love of DNA replication as a process, I enjoy traveling, baking and reading.
